Excitement! That was the flavour in and around Princes’ Park amongst the homeless in Pretoria CBD the week before the Speak Jesus event. Asking one another: “Are you going?”, as they saw one another in the week.
Three weeks before the Speak Jesus event, God worked through homeless people to stir all of our hearts for intersession. Lekau, a man with a master’s degree, but homeless after he lost his ID document and consequently missed out on job opportunities, was crying out one Sunday morning at Street Church under the trees in Princes Park: “Where are the intercessors? Why are my people wounded”. God spoke to him through the scripture in Jeremiah: “Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is not the health of the daughter of my people restored? [Because Zion no longer enjoyed the presence of the Great Physician!]” – Jeremiah 8:22.
Spontaneous intercession erupted and as we started praying in faith for healing, deliverance and breakthroughs. Not only for one another, but also for our country.
We took 25 of these homeless people through from Pretora to the Speak Jesus event in Krugersdorp. A life-changing event because we didn’t go to receive, but to give. We understood that God empowered us with wisdom and understanding for intercession for our country.
But you know our God! The outflow and blessing was healing, deliverance and breakthrough amongst the people of Prince’s Park and surroundings as well. Lekau received a job offer from a mine in North-west, including housing, medical aid, etc. Many others received deliverance from addictions. Terence, who joined drunk so many times, received instant healing for pain in his hand after he was stabbed. This miracle transformed him completely and he is now 5 weeks clean and sober! Klaas asked us to pray for him for his gambling addiction. He testified recently that he is delivered from gambling and haven’t gambled now for 3 weeks!
And now, there is excitement yet again in Princes’ Park and our Capital’s CBD. This time, the buzz words are: “Are you getting baptized next week”? Yes, the word says make disciples, teach them and baptise them (Matthew 28). We haven’t created a baptised opportunity, purely because of the logistical challenges. But a week ago, we repented thereof and asked God to MAKE A WAY!
And yet again, you know our God! A baptism tub was sponsored; and a 1,000 litre IBC water tank; T-shirts and PT-shorts to be baptised in as well as towels. God is making a way supernaturally. And last Sunday, we announced that the CBD will properly have it’s first in the open park baptism service where homeless people can have the opportunity to be obedient and be baptised. If this is what is transpiring in the natural in the build-up to the baptism service on 23 October, we have a tremendous expectation for what’s to come in the Spiritual realm. Pretoria’s CBD will never be the same again!
